Helene M's Story
I have a great story to share on how children see things so much clearer than we as adults do. One weekend, my granddaughter who just turned 8 spent the night with us. Even though my daughter's family lives only 2 blocks from us, my granddaughter likes to sometimes spend an evening with us. We all know time passes fast, and we have to enjoy every moment we have been given. For grandparents that is especially true when it comes to our grandchildren. So, with that said here is my story I would like to share about that night. After LilyâÃÂÃÂs shower I began to apply skin softener on her. When I put facial cream on her face she looked at me and said âÃÂÃÂGrammy, why are you putting cream on my face?âÃÂàMy response to her was as young ladies it is never too early to take care of our skin especially...Expand for more
our faces since that is where wrinkles show up first.âÃÂàShe looked at me with her adoring eyes and quite calmly said to me as she studied my face intently. âÃÂÃÂBut Grammy you do not have any wrinkles on your face!âÃÂàAs IâÃÂÃÂm thinking to myself how sweet, I suddenly realized that she was not finished. âÃÂÃÂYou only have them on your neck and chest, but donâÃÂÃÂt worry I will love you till you are 89 years old.âÃÂàTalk about a moment that will always be cherished, especially or at least till I am 89 years old and then I guess I will have to ask her if time has permitted be to reach that ripe old age, âÃÂÃÂLily will you love me a few more years? What a wonderful lesson to learn that what we see is not what children see and how unconditionally they love us.
